Sure beats the heck out of clear lexan and a sharpie!

November 3, 2005

 Dear Sirs,

I work for a wonderful little company in Dallas, Texas called Southwest Airlines’. We had some Trace Marker samples given to us by your company several months ago, and since I did structure work on occasion, I was given a strip of samples by my supervisor to “try out.” I have seen a lot of “snake oil” being in this business for 19 years, however this seemed like it might work someday. That someday came tonight. We had a brand new aircraft come in for a “make ready,” in which we install equipment that does not come with a factory airplane to prepare it for revenue service. One of those items is to install a drip pan over our Radar R/Ts. (receiver-transmitter) The area in which to work is quite small, and after all the brackets are installed, the pan had to be positioned, and holes located. Not a fun job if you don’t have an old one to use as a template, if you know what I mean.  I piloted one, drilling though the bracket nut plate, and taking it up to size, and had 4 more to go. The first one was easy, but now I had holes that were going to take a long time to locate, (once I figured how I was going to do the job!}  Since the pan is flanged, you cannot use a hole-finder so I was really in a bind, when I remembered the Tracer Markers I had in my toolbox. I peeled one off, and tried one hole. I placed it into the bracket side nut plate hole, and laid the drip pan in the marked location. I pressed down, and pulled the drip pan off, and struck it. Perfect! Now I had three more holes that were in a U channel, and were in the middle of the pan. I took three more, struck them, drilled the holes, and they too were PERFECT! I was so impressed that I had to write and tell you that this is the best aviation tool to come out in a long time. I let my supervisor know that we need to stock these, and give them to the guys that do structure work on a day to day basis. We have some of the best structure mechanics in the industry, and once they use them, they will be hooked.  I used to work at a repair station, and they could have saved me literally hours of headaches! Thank you  for a wonderful product, and I would highly recommend these to companies that do heavy structure work, particularly repair stations, and heavy maintenance facilities. Basically anybody that needs to locate those impossible holes to get to would benefit greatly from these babies! A must have item in your toolbox.

Warmest Regards.
